Better to Study Martial Arts in Taiwan or Mainland China

1. Description of Our Community

Since the 14th century, Chinese people settled in Taiwan and brought their own culture. Due to foreign invasions, the Taiwanese gradually developed their own methods of self-defence, which then evolved into local martial arts, or 'wushu'. After the end of World War II, the KMT retreated to Taiwan, bringing with them a large slice of traditional Chinese culture. As a event, many martial arts schools in the north and south of Mainland china exchanged and integrated with the original styles in Taiwan. Even today, Taiwanese wushu yet retains many traits of mainland Chinese martial arts. Martial arts was originally called the 'national fine art' when the KMT came to Taiwan, and this term is still used today.

Furthermore, we read books and created a web page to introduce the history and cultural aspects of Chinese martial arts to the world through the Net. By gathering data about the myriad of martial arts schools all over China, we envision a greater future for this beautiful form of art. We wish to unite all the dissimilar factions of Chinese martial arts with i common chemical element -- the Chinese spirit of perseverance. The Chinese have powered through endless trials of history, be them in the form of internal rebellion or external invasion, without succumbing to the tumult that has brought down and so many great empires before us. And we remember that there is naught that can improve stand for the unyielding Chinese spirit than our martial arts. With fists that strike with the ferocity of a tiger and kicks that state with the beauty of a perching crane, nosotros have halted every prospect of ruin in its tracks and prospered until today. It is our firm belief that despite the myriad of different schools that have branched out, we are able to notice unity in multifariousness.
